Men’s Bags and Accessories

Mens Black Leather Waist Pouch

At one time, men would not be caught holding or wearing any type of bag whether a messenger style, waist pouch or even a back pack. Wallets were all they carried, or they would use their pockets on whatever clothing they wore. Women’s bags came in handy to throw a few things in while going out together.

Bags such as backpacks, duffel bags, and waist pouches started coming out followed by messenger bags for over the shoulder or crossbody styles which are hands free. Smaller versions of the messenger bag are known as ‘Murses’. Brief cases have been around for many years, as seen in the picture above, along with laptop cases that have a handle or a strap that you can attach to it.

To the left is a picture of a stone grey sling that can be carried as a chest bag or behind the back. It has an adjustable strap with pockets in front.

Bag material include leather, Faux or imitation leather, vintage leather with a rugged look, nylon and synthetic, canvas and waxed canvas. Bag styles are casual, professional, traveller, trendy and military. Below is a canvas and leather strap duffel bag.

Diaper bags for men eventually started to appear with masculine styles for the active Dads in the family or for the single ones raising their children alone. There is a huge market out there now for all of the styles mentioned so it’s not unusual to see guys carry any type of bag. They range from different shapes and sizes, to color and fabric. Accessories can include wallets, shaving bags, eye glass cases, grooming kits and money clips.

Men’s jackets and pants usually have many pockets to place their items in, along with having
wallets, while women always had purses and handbags. Styles for men have been evolving over the years joining women with the convenience to have their own bags.Mens Grey Canvas Messenger Bag

Using an all weather protection spray like Tana All Protector or a conditioner you would purchase for shoes, would benefit your bags preventing rust and stains and keeping them in shape, lasting longer. Men’s bags are a great gift idea for those who have everything!

I added eBags where you can shop for women’s and men’s bags and travel products! They also have hundreds of men’s wallets.

    Hi Patsy
Well, I have never worn a bag like u have described above except when hiking up in the mountains, and that was a backpack, lol. I never knew they made men’s diaper bags, I could have really used one when I was raising my daughter. U have a really interesting site here and I actually learned something new about men’s bags, which is cool. I love learning new things. So I would assume that u have to go to specialty stores to get men’s bags?

      Hi Carl,

You won’t know what is out there until you stumble across it as you did. Men’s bags are just as popular as women’s bags and they are caught up where style and quantity are available. I have several articles for the guys, one being the history of the man bag which goes back further than you would think.

I have merchants where I leave the option to shop from. There are banners for both women and men on my main menu pages, I link each article to them for easy shopping access. I don’t sell my own.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing with your comment. Hope to see you back soon.

Hi Patsy! I must admit that I’ve used a fanny pack for many years and recently, decided to curtail the habit. But now, after reading your About Me page, I am reconsidering that decision. I hadn’t realized there were so many different options open to men. Apparently, the days of the Fancy Man Purse (courtesy of Seinfeld) are over! Thanks for enlightening me, Patsy!!

      Hi Mitch, you are welcome.
I’m glad you had the chance to read the page I wrote about myself, that led you to this one. At least you used a fanny pack for years! Yes there are hundreds to choose from for guys, the market is huge and it’s great you are reconsidering using a bag again.

I love the Messenger bag, third one down but in a nice leather…I found my bag!! I actually remember going into Grade 7 and my parents, who had a business in the marine industry, came back from Annapolis, MD from the Worlds largest in water boat show. They had gotten me a messenger style Timberland bag that was dark blue with a yellow strap and with a white Timberland logo across the back. I remembered that bag the second I saw that Messenger had on this page. I loved that bag and I remember all the kids used to make fun of me, “you got only one strap and how lame is Timberland, what is it a tree company, stupid bag!” Timberland started out making deck shoes for boats. It’s amazing how far these bags have come in ways of acceptance in fashion for men. Great knowledge of your niche here, it has really helped me out a lot. Is there a good brand of messenger bag that can handle a laptop that I should look into when purchasing?

      Hi Jair,

Thanks for visiting my website and my Men’s Bags and Accessories page. I see it brought back memories for you with the bag you had so long ago.
These bags have come a long way for sure, and especially for acceptance with the guys using them.

There is a huge market for men’s bags and quite a few quality brands with many styles, fabrics and sizes to accommodate every need. I would suggest to take a look at the Modern Man Bags banner below the article, and browse. There are hundreds to look at and when you click on the picture it shows what each one looks like in detail. They have every price point to suit any budget!

Thanks again for stopping by, hope to see you again soon.

This notion regarding men with purses has been running around this area for a while. I love the bags you have featured on this post.
My brother and I worked as stand in’s in a movie once that required my brother to walk down the street with a bag over his shoulder. I thought he looked really smart. The bag did not look feminine but actually very manly!

      Hi Cynthia,

It took a while to get used to the guys having a bag to place their belongings in. That was a very long time ago as things have changed. Seeing your brother with one made you realize it wasn’t so bad!

They are designed to suit men, with the masculine styles and colors. I agree how the ones featured here are really nice. I wrote an article a few days ago about the History of the Man Bag, if you click here, it will take you to that page. It is an interesting read on how the man bag evolved over time.

I’m from Jamaica, it’s VERY uncommon to see men with handbags, only backpacks pretty much because it’s thought that handbags of any type are for women. But the bags from this article are very nice and not lady like at all. I think they’re very helpful as well.

    1. Patsy

Hi Tiffani, it’s interesting to hear how uncommon it is to see men with handbags depending on the area. As you can see from my website there is a huge market for it now. Guys have so many options to choose from, they are catching up with women when it comes to handbags and styles. There is a style and color for any occasion, and as time goes by they will be accepted in more places than they are now.

      Thank you for visiting!

I don’t have any problem with wearing over the should strap messenger style bags. I used to wear one for college. Duffle bags are too big for me to carry around, and I’m very comfortable wearing a book bag. I’m sorry but I don’t think you will ever catch me walking around with a fannie pack around my waist. As much as I like it and think it’s a nice on other guys, I can’t find the courage to wear it. 🙁

    1. Patsy

Hi Jonathan, thank you for the comment. Sometimes it takes a while to get used to new things, like wearing the waist pouch. It has been around for many years and I have a couple myself. I see many wearing them for the hands free convenience they give, and for guys it’s their version for what women use as a purse. It’s fine to not have the courage to wear it, we all have our own taste.
